How to Quickly Convert Comic Book files to PDF

comic convert scriptWant to convert crb or cbz to PDF on Ubuntu? OMG! reader Rumesh986 has mailed in with a script that does exactly that.

“Reading comics in PDF format is useful when trying to read on devices without the special software for reading cbr or cbz files. This makes it much easier to read comics from various devices,” Rumesh explains on the project’s Github page.

To help he’s created a tool called comic convert, which lets you quickly convert any *.cbr or *.cbz file to pdf.  Comic Convert has been tested on both Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and on the Windows Subsystem for Linux.

If you’re working with particularly large comic book files you will need to be patient during the conversion process.

Download Comic Convert Script

To make use of the Comic Convert script you need to first download the master .zip from the Github page linked below.

Download Comic Convert for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Extract this .zip archive. Then, use the Terminal to enter the extracted directory.

Run chmod +x ./comicconvert inside the directory containing the script (to give it appropriate privileges) and then move it to /usr/local/bin/ to be able to run it from anywhere.
